TOPICMAPS.COMMUNITY WEBSITE

The Home of Subject-Centric Computing

Topic Maps is a semantic technology designed to address the twin problems of finding information and sharing knowledge. It is defined in an open international standard (ISO/IEC 13250) that was first published in 2000 and has since been applied across a range of applications and industries.

At the moment this site consists mainly of information about the upcoming conference Topic Maps 2008, which takes place in Oslo, Norway on April 2-4 2008 – and its predecessor, Topic Maps 2007 – but there are plans for much more content, including:

  • Other Topic Maps events around the world
  • A list of web sites and blogs devoted partly or wholly to
    Topic Maps
  • A catalog of Topic Maps-related publications
  • An overview of Topic Maps tools
  • A list of publicly known Topic Maps projects
  • Frequently Asked Questions on Topic Maps

The domain topicmaps.com is owned by Standards Council of Canada on behalf of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 34, the ISO committee responsible for the ISO 13250 Topic Maps standard. It is run by the Topic Maps User's Group of the Norwegian Computer Society on behalf of SC 34.
